Social Stratification and Political Activity

One of the patterns that I have noticed in my community is that in the more affluent neighborhoods (like in the above picture) I am more likely to find political yard signs.  Whereas, when I drive around in lower income neighborhoods I rarely see political yard signs.  Using my sociological imagination I understand that individuals with more money are more likely to be involved in politics.  They want to influence policies and they have money and connections to do so.  Yet, while individuals in poverty or lower income also have an interest in wanting policies to help themselves, they do not have the resources (money or connections) to influence to do so.  Therefore, they feel apathetic about politics and do not get involved...no political yard signs.
