Men and Women in the Workplace
I recently went to the PBR, Professional Bull Riding, and I noticed how in this line of work the men ride the bull and the women do the interviewing and time keeping. The reason the men ride the bulls is because it is seen as dangerous, so one has to be "tough". A women is not supposed to ride bulls because she just isn't.
This got me to thinking of all work places and how both male and female genders have their "jobs" and usually don't work each others. For example, I went to Wal-Mart to get the oil changed in my car and I noticed how everyone working in the back on the cars was male and all the people working the cash registers were female. This is because working on vehicles is seen as a dirty, "manly" job and women just don't do it. No one says that women can't work man jobs and vise versa, but since the beginning of time certain things were said as men work and others as women work and everyone just does it.
Using my sociological imagination, I have concluded that no matter where one goes or what one does, there will always be women expectations and men expectations; and no matter how hard people try and change this into "equal" rights, men and women will never quite be equal in all aspects.
