Wanna hang out?

While sitting in the movie theater the other day I realized I hated the movie I was watching. I began to wonder why I even went to the movie at all because I knew I did not want to see the movie I was at. However the experience was not horrible because I was surrounded by friends. My friends are always dragging me places, and I am always dragging them places. Why do we do that  when not everybody will love the activity we would be doing? For instance one of my friends is not the best basketball player he also has no interest in becoming a better player however, he loves coming with the whole crew because he loves be around us and having friends. Regardless of the activity at hand people who enjoy being around each other will receive social pleasure. The sense of belonging is rooted in society, nobody wants to be a outcast so people get friends and do stuff with those friends to hold onto that sense of belonging. People don't go to events alone because they don't want to come across as weird. When I go to an event and get their early I look for a familiar face and stand by them and chat with them until my usual social group gets there. I know of others who have done the same. This is all for friendship and that sense of belonging.
